Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to the process for the preparation of N- demethylolanzapine and the use of N-demethylolanzapine obtained by the process for the preparation of antipsychotic medicament olanzapine. According to the process of the invention the reaction of an- hydrous piperazine with 4-amino-2-methyl-10H-thieno[2.3-b]- [1.5]benzodiazepine or its inorganic acid addition salt is carried out in molten piperazine, in the absence of a solvent. L'invention concerne le procédé de préparation de N-déméthylolanzapine, ainsi que l'utilisation de la N-déméthylolanzapine obtenue par ce procédé pour préparer un médicament antipsychotique, l'olanzapine. Selon ce procédé, la réaction de pipérazine anhydre avec de la 4-amino-2-méthyl-10H-thiéno[2.3-b]-[1.5]benzodiazépine ou son sel d'addition d'acide inorganique est réalisée dans de la pipérazine fondue, en l'absence de solvant.
