The selection assay of the invention utilizes water-in-oil emulsions and is particularly advantageous in applications in the field of directed-evolution, as exemplified herein for selection of protein inhibitors of DNA nucleases. Cette invention relève du domaine des bibliothèques compartimentées d'éléments génétiques et de la sélection de molécules biologiquement actives et des gènes codant ces molécules à partir de ces bibliothèques. L'analyse de sélection de cette invention fait appel à des émulsions eau dans huile et se révèle particulièrement avantageuse dans des applications relevant du domaine de l'évolution dirigée, telle que décrite à titre d'exemple dans la description pour la sélection d'inhibiteurs protéiques de nucléases ADN.
