Die Erfindung betrifft eine Bedieneinheit zur Beeinflussung einer Steuerung (30) eines Haushaltsgeräts, mit einem Gehäuse (10), an dem eine Gruppe von ersten (4) und eine Gruppe von zweiten Bedienelementen (6) angeordnet ist, mit einer Lichtquelle (22) zur Beleuchtung eines zweiten Bedienelements (6) und mit einer in dem Gehäuse (10) angeordneten und als elektrische oder elektronische Steuerung ausgebildeten Steuerung (30), die eine Verarbeitungseinheit (30.1) und einen Speicher (30.2) aufweist, wobei die ersten und zweiten Bedienelemente (4, 6) und die Lichtquelle (22) mit der Steuerung (30) elektrisch leitend verbunden sind und das beleuchtbare zweite Bedienelement (6) und die Lichtquelle (22) derart ausgebildet und an dem Gehäuse (10) angeordnet sind, dass diese bei ausgeschalteter Lichtquelle (22) für das menschliche Auge im Wesentlichen unsichtbar sind und die Lichtquelle (22) durch eine Betätigung eines ersten Bedienelements (4) einschaltbar ist.
