VARIAN E FOCAL LENGTH LENS

A variable focal length lens, comprises a chamber arrangement containing two transparent liquids adjacent one another with an interface therebetween, the chamber arrangement allowing light to pass along an optical axis through the transparent liquids and across the interface, the lens focusing the passing light. A piezoelectric actuator is arranged, on activation, to change the pressure of one of the liquids so that the interface moves, for example by changing shape, to change the focal length of the lens. La présente invention se rapporte à une lentille à longueur focale variable comprenant un agencement de chambres contenant deux liquides transparents adjacents l'un à l'autre et séparés par une interface, ledit agencement de chambres permettant à la lumière de passer le long d'un axe optique traversant les liquides transparents ainsi que l'interface, ladite lentille focalisant la lumière passant de cette manière. Un actionneur piézo-électrique est conçu pour modifier, lors de son activation, la pression de l'un des liquides de sorte que l'interface se déplace, par exemple en changeant de forme, aux fins de la modification de la longueur focale de la lentille.
