DILUTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A multi-stage dilution device, comprising a first stage dilution apparatus (A), and a second stage dilution apparatus (B), each of the stage dilution device comprising: - (i) a housing (1) having a diluent inlet (7); (ii) a sample inlet (2) having a sample introducer within the housing (1) adapted to introduce the sample at an introducer point (4) within the housing (1); and, (iii) a mixing conduit (5) mounted at least partially within the housing (1), the mixing conduit (5) having an inlet section comprising a mouth (10), and a fluid outlet (8), and a throat section (9) capable of producing a pressure drop within the mixing conduit (5), the pressure drop being sufficient to draw sample through the sample inlet (2); the introducer point (4) of the sample inlet (2) being proximate the mixing conduit inlet; and wherein the fluid output (8) of the first stage dilution apparatus (A) is in communication with the sample inlet (2) of the second stage dilution apparatus (B). A method of diluting a sample is also disclosed. La présente invention a trait à un dispositif de dilution à étages, comportant un appareil de dilution de premier étage (A) et un appareil de dilution de deuxième étage (B), chacun des étages du dispositif de dilution comprenant ; (i) un boîtier (1) présentant un orifice d'entrée de diluant (7) ; (ii) un orifice d'entrée d'échantillons (2) comportant un système d'introduction d'échantillons au sein du boîtier (1) apte à l'introduction de l'échantillon à un point du système d'introduction (4) au sein du boîtier (1) ; et (iii) un conduit de mélange (5) monté au moins en partie au sein du boîtier (1), le conduit de mélange (5) présentant une section d'admission comprenant une embouchure (10), et un orifice de sortie de fluide (8), une section de col (9) apte à produire une baisse de pression au sein du conduit de mélange (5), la baisse de pression étant suffisante à prélever l'échantillon à travers l'orifice d'entrée d'échantillons (2) ; le point de système d'introduction (4) de l'orifice d'entrée d'échantillons (2) étant à proximité de l'orifice d'admission du conduit de mélange ; et dans lequel l'orifice de sortie de fluide (8) de l'appareil de dilution de premier étage (A) est en communication avec l'orifice d'entrée d'échantillons (2) de l'appareil de dilution de deuxième étage (B). L'invention a également trait à un procédé de dilution d'un échantillon.
