USE OF FLAVONOID FOR THE TREATMENT OF OVERWEIGHT AND THE REDUCTION OF THE MAMMALIAN APPETITE

The present invention relates to a method for the treatment and/or prevention of overweight and to a method for the reduction of a mammalian appetite. The present method comprises the administration to the mammal of a dosage containing an effective amount of a flavonoid selected from the group consisting of chrysin, flavone, precursors of these flavonoids that are convertible into the one of these flavonoids by gastrointestinal hydrolytic cleavage and mixtures thereof. La présente invention concerne une méthode permettant de traiter et/ou de prévenir la surcharge pondérale, ainsi qu'une méthode permettant de réduire l'appétit chez un mammifère. La méthode décrite dans cette invention consiste à administrer au mammifère un dosage contenant une quantité efficace d'un flavanoïde choisi dans le groupe comprenant la chrysine, la flavone, des précurseurs de ces flavanoïdes qui peuvent être transformés en l'un de ces flavanoïdes par clivage hydrolytique gastro-intestinal, et des mélanges de ceux-ci.
