A METHOD OF MODULATING ENDOTHELIAL CELL ACTIVITY

The present invention relates generally to a method of modulating endothelial cell activity and to agents useful for same. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method of modulating intercellular vascular endothelial permeability by modulating an intracellular protein kinase C-dependent signalling mechanism. The method for the present invention is useful, inter alia, in the treatment and/or prophylaxis of a condition characterised by aberrant, unwanted or otherwise inappropriate endothelial cell activity, in particular, conditions characterised by a loss of vascular integrity. L'invention porte sur un procédé de modulation de l'activité cellulaire endothéliale et sur des agents utiles à la modulation. Plus précisément, l'invention concerne un procédé de modulation de la perméabilité endothéliale vasculaire intercellulaire par modulation d'un mécanisme de signalement dépendant de la protéine kinase C intercellulaire. Ce procédé est utile, entre autres, au traitement et/ou à la prophylaxie d'une condition caractérisée par une activité cellulaire aberrante, indésirable ou inappropriée, notamment des conditions caractérisées par une perte d'intégrité vasculaire.
