COMPUTER NETWORK FOR LAYER THREE CORRELATION WITH LAYER ONE TOPOLOGY

A system is described for provisioning a lightpath in a multi-carrier network (Fig. 3) based on data congestion, quality of service requests, and the like. By monitoring the real time state information of the network resources and priority information, the system determines wether to trigger the provisioning of a "nailed-up" switched path carry certain high prority data, or to allow the data to be routed in a typical best efforts manner. The present invention allows carriers (X and Y) to change the focus of their peering relationship with other network utilization to providing the maximum QoS to network traffic. Du fait de la surveillance d'informations d'état des ressources de réseau en temps réel et d'informations de priorité, le système peut déterminer s'il faut fournir un chemin commuté de priorité élevée afin de transporter certaines données de priorité élevée et s'il faut acheminer ces données selon le mécanisme du type /= . L'invention permet aux porteuses (X et Y) de changer la cible de leur relation d'égal à égal avec d'autres réseaux à partir d'une utilisation maximum du réseau afin de fournir le QoS maximum au trafic de réseau.
