Zusammenfassung:	Oil composition comprising a major amount of a natural and/or synthetic base oil and, as a marking substance, a detectable level of one or more compounds of formula (IV), wherein R -R are the same or different and are independently chosen from hydrogen, C1-15 alkyl and other non-conjugated groups; R is chosen from hydrogen and C1-15 alkyl; and R is a conjugated group; and a method for detecting the presence of a marking substance in an oil composition, wherein the oil composition is contacted with a test strip comprising an acidic compound supported thereon, such that said marking substance gives a colour reaction upon contact with the test strip. L'invention a trait à une composition d'huile contenant un volume important d'huile de base naturelle et/ou synthétique, et une quantité décelable d'un ou plusieurs composés représentés par la formule (IV), lesquels servent de substance de marquage. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de déceler la présence d'une substance de marquage dans une composition d'huile, ladite composition d'huile étant mise en contact avec une bande d'essai sur laquelle est déposé un composé acide, de façon que ladite substance de marquage change de couleur lorsqu'elle mise en contact avec la bande d'essai.
