CONSTANT OUTPUT SOLID STATE LIGHT SOURCE WITH ELECTRONICALLY FILTERED OPTICAL FEEDBACK

A solid state traffic light apparatus provided with an optical feedback sensor ensuring a constant light intensity by detecting back-scattered light from a diffuser centered above an LED array. Control logic individually drives the LEDs, the drive characteristics being changed over time by the optical feedback to ensure a uniform beam intensity is generated at a intensity meeting DOT standards, across the life of the device, and as a function of ambient light conditions. La présente invention concerne un appareil de signalisation de trafic électronique muni d'un capteur à contre-réaction optique qui assure une intensité lumineuse constante en détectant la lumière diffuse provenant d'un diffuseur centré au-dessus d'un réseau de diodes électroluminescentes. Une logique de contrôle excite individuellement les diodes électroluminescentes, leurs caractéristiques d'excitation étant modifiées au fil du temps par la contre-réaction optique en fonction des conditions de lumière ambiante et afin d'assurer, pendant toute la durée de vie utile du dispositif, la production d'un faisceau d'intensité uniforme avec une intensité répondant aux normes du DOT américain (Department of Transportation).
