L'invention concerne une nouvelle enzyme poly(A) polymérase humaine (PAP), la séquence d'acides nucléiques et d'acides aminés correspondante et l'utilisation de celle-ci, ainsi qu'un anticorps dirigé contre cette nouvelle enzyme et l'utilisation de celui-ci. Cette enzyme, appelée PAP gamma, n'est pas apparentée aux PAP connues à ce jour.
