A CONTACT FOR USE WITH A PIN GRID ARRAY

A contact to electrically connect at least one pin of a pin grid array to a printed circuit board is described. The contact comprises a receiving portion having a pair of contact arms, with each contact arm having a curved portion and a straight portion. The contact arms are positioned so that the curved portions form a curved receiving area while the straight portions are substantially parallel to each other to form a contact area. The contact also includes a tail portion having a solder ball receiving portion. The contact further includes a center portion connecting the pin receiving portion to the tail portion. L'invention concerne un contact servant à relier électriquement au moins une broche d'une matrice de broches à un plaque de circuit imprimé. Ce contact comprend une partie réceptrice dotée d'une paire de plots de contact ayant chacun une partie courbe et une partie droite. Ces plots de contact sont placés de manière que leurs parties courbes constituent une zone réceptrice courbe, tandis que les parties droites demeurent sensiblement parallèles pour former une zone de contact. Le contact de l'invention comprend également une partie postérieure munie d'une partie apte à recevoir un globule de soudure. Ce contact comprend en outre une partie centrale destinée à relier la partie recevant la broche à la partie postérieure.
