L'invention concerne un procédé, exempt d'oxydation, destiné à transformer un composé aromatique à substituant hydroxy en un diacide aromatique, consistant à faire réagir ledit composé aromatique à substituant hydroxy avec un sel basique en excès, en présence de dioxyde de carbone dans les conditions d'une réaction de dismutation/isomérisation.
