MULTI-JAW TRANSVERSE SEALER

This invention relates to a packaging machine (10) having a carriage (52) drivable in a path (99) along a work region (32) and a sealing tool (70) movably mounted to the carriage (52) connected to a sealer actuator (192, 194) for moving the tool (70) with respect to the carriage (52) and performing a sealing operation on a workpiece (11). The carriage (52) can have multiple tools (70, 203, 1506) mounted to the carriage (52) which can be independently actuated to perform multiple operations on a workpiece (11). This invention also relates to a method of performing a packaging operation in which a tool (70) is driven along a path (99) with respect to a workpiece (11) and the tool (70) is aligned with respect to the workpiece (11) and the aligned tool is moved into operational association with the workpiece (11) for performing an operation on the workpiece (11). La présente invention concerne une machine d'emballage (10) possédant un chariot (52) pouvant se déplacer le long d'un chemin (99) dans une région de travail (32) ainsi qu'un outil de scellement (70) monté mobile sur le chariot (52), relié à un actionneur de scelleuse (102, 194) en vue de déplacer l'outil (70) par rapport au chariot (52), et réalisant une opération de scellement sur une pièce (11). On a monté sur ce chariot (52) plusieurs outils (70, 203, 1506) pouvant être actionnés de manière indépendante en vue d'effectuer plusieurs opérations sur une pièce (11). L'invention concerne également un procédé d'emballage dans lequel un outil (70) est entraîné le long d'un chemin (99) par rapport à la pièce (11), puis aligné avec ladite pièce (11), l'outil aligné étant enfin déplacé de façon à coopérer avec la pièce (11) pour réaliser une opération sur celle-ci (11).
