HETEROSTRUCTURE SPHERICAL SHAPED SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE

A method and apparatus for heteroepitaxially growing an epi layer on a spherical shaped single-crystal semiconductor substrate is disclosed. The method grows a first portion of the epi layer on a first offset portion of the spherical shaped single-crystal semiconductor substrate in which the lattice constant of the growth layer equals the lattice constant of the offset portion. The epi layer is further grown laterally, covering additional portions of the substrate. La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant la formation d'une couche épitaxiale par hétéroépitaxie sur un substrat à semi-conducteur monocristallin de forme sphérique. Le procédé consiste à former une première partie de la couche épitaxiale sur une première partie décalée du substrat à semi-conducteur monocristallin de forme sphérique dans lequel la constante de réseau de la couche formée est égale à la constante de réseau de la partie décalée. La couche épitaxiale est ensuite formée latéralement, couvrant ainsi les parties additionnelles du substrat.
