Zusammenfassung:	A head-up display for a motor vehicle includes a housing, which may be integrated into an instrument panel of the motor vehicle. A combiner is configured to combine an image of the head-up display and an environment in front of the motor vehicle observable through the combiner. The combiner is movable from a position of non-use into a position of use. An image generator is configured to generate the image. A cover may be brought into a closed position, which covers the housing when not in use. The cover has an opening to enable an emission of light of a light beam of the image generator with the cover closed.
