Zusammenfassung:	A protective device is provided to reduce an occurrence of injury in the case of a far-side side impact of a vehicle. The protective device has an airbag attached to a side of a seat closer to the center of the vehicle. The air bag has a first airbag element attached to the seat back to extend in the region of the thorax and a second airbag element attached to the seat frame to protect the pelvis in the case of the far side impact.
