Zusammenfassung:	A liquid crystal display includes a first field generating electrode and an opposed electrode facing each other with a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween, a shielding electrode line separated from the first field generating electrode, and a second field generating electrode including a plurality of branch electrodes overlapping the first field generating electrode, where the first field generating electrode includes at least one step portion adjacent to and facing the shielding electrode line.
