Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to recombinant bacteria and the uses thereof, particularly for the production of ethanol. The invention also relates to methods for the production of such bacteria, as well as to nucleic acid constructs suitable for such production. The invention specifically relates to bacteria lacking a functional LDH gene and/or containing a recombinant nucleic acid encoding a PDC and ADH. The bacteria of this invention may be produced from any stress-resistant bacteria.
