Zusammenfassung:	A transport system or means of transport includes vehicles detachably connected to one another and a data transmission apparatus for wired data transmission between the vehicles and within the vehicles. In each vehicle the data transmission apparatus includes data coupling units for the data transmission between the respective vehicle and vehicles connected to it as well as two separate data connections connecting its two data coupling units. Each data coupling unit has four data ports as well as one or more switch units which can be used to produce different electrical connection states for the data ports. A method for data transmission in such a transport system or means of transport is also provided.
