Zusammenfassung:A method and system for dynamically negotiating a device name for establishing a communications session between a host computer and a client computer are provided. A host computer receives from a client computer, a device name that includes as part of the device name at least a wildcard character. The host computer replaces the wildcard character with one or more characters that can be used in device names, to generate a unique device name that is not already being used by the host computer.
