Zusammenfassung:A composition is provided for use as a friction modifier for an automatic transmission, which comprises a condensation product of a hydroxypolycarbox-ylic acid, such as 2,3-di-hydroxybutanedioic acid or 2-hydroxybutanedioic acid, with an N,N-di(hydrocarbyl)alkylenediamine, where each hydrocarbyl group contains 1 to 22 carbon atoms, provided that the total number of carbon atoms in the two hydrocarbyl groups is at least about 9, and the alkylene group contains 2 to 4 carbon atoms.
