The glutathione production enhancer or the prophylactic/therapeutic agent for diseases caused by glutathione deficiency contains, as an active ingredient, a licorice extract composition that contains liquiritin, liquiritigenin, isoliquiritin and isoliquiritigenin but contains substantially no glycyrrhizic acid.
