Zusammenfassung:	A method for operating a printing unit of a printing press includes operating the printing unit in a first operating mode, for example printing operation, and in a second operating mode, for example maintenance operation. In the first operating mode, a printing unit cylinder and a distributor roller are driven rotationally by a first motor and the distributor roller is driven axially by a second motor. In the second operating mode, the distributor roller is driven rotationally by a third motor and the distributor roller is driven axially by the second motor. A printing press for carrying out the method is also provided.
