The lateral includes an elongated tubular conduit having a first end and a second end, a plurality of slots disposed along at least a portion of the conduit, and a connecting mechanism disposed proximate to the second end. Each of the slots is angled relative to the conduit to redirect a flow of fluid exiting the conduit.
