The method collects, by an optical pyrometer having a high frequency acquisition sensor, at least one signal representative of the temperature of a melted portion of the weld bead, and includes a frequency phase for checking that the recurring frequencies are within an acceptable range of reference frequencies, to determine if the weld bead is defective.
