Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a heat-sealable packaging material and a sealed package formed from the same, especially for packaging foodstuffs. The packaging material comprises a base layer of paper or board and polymeric heat-sealable layers on one side of the base layer or, preferably, on both sides thereof. According to the invention, at least two layers of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) with different fractions of ethylene monomer are arranged on the packaging material to provide an oxygen barrier. The layers can locate against each other without a tie layer between them. The heat-sealable polymer can be a polyolefin, and, in addition, other polymeric barrier layers can be incorporated into the material to improve its oxygen, fat and aroma tightness.
