Zusammenfassung:An image display device includes: a source wiring; a first gate wiring intersecting the source wiring to scan a first pixel electrode corresponding to a first scanning period; a second gate wiring adjacent to the first gate wiring to scan a second pixel electrode corresponding to a second scanning period consecutive to the first scanning period; a read signal line disposed in parallel to the source wiring; a light sensing element connected to the second gate wiring and the read signal line; and a light detection circuit configured to detect the presence or absence of light directed at the light sensing element upon receiving an output of the light sensing element. The first pixel electrode and the second pixel electrode are AC driven in the same polarity. The output of the light sensing element is connected to the light detection circuit for a predetermined interval during the second scanning period.
