The illumination module includes a light source including a plurality of light emitting devices, a light guide panel having a top surface from which light is emitted, the top surface facing the optical modulator, and an edge surface on which light is incident, and an optical transport member for guiding light emitted from the light source to the edge surface of the light guide panel, the section of the optical transport member parallel to the edge surface increasing in size from the edge surface to the light source.
