Zusammenfassung:	A device and a method are provided for controlling a machine tool, at least one arbitrarily organized database having supplementary data being used for workpiece machining. During the execution of a machining program using a processing unit, the database commands are processed by an interpreter unit in the processing unit such that the required data are retrieved from the database and are further processed in the machining program.
