A first stage amplifier outputs an amplified signal to an equalizer, which in turn outputs an equalized signal to a second stage amplifier. The equalizer varies the attenuation in accordance with the frequency to provide minimum gain variation, thereby providing optimal noise characteristics and generally constant linearity.
