Zusammenfassung:	A modem for processing telephone calls includes a line interface for coupling the modem to a telephone line and a computer interface for coupling the modem to a host computer. A processor in the modem between the line interface and the computer interface receives signals running between the telephone line and the host computer. Both the signal processing session and the control processing session required to process the signals are implemented on the single processor.
