Date Mar. 14, 1996The cDNA and genomic DNA encoding the ACC oxidase of broccoli are provided along with recombinant materials containing antisense constructs of these DNA sequences to permit control of the level of ACC oxidase in and, thus, the maturation and aging of Brassica oleracea plants which allows one to influence, e.g., lengthen, the shelflife of these plants.
