Zusammenfassung:	The present invention is directed to an insulation panel having an envelope made of at least two pieces, an upper portion and a lower portion, of a high gas barrier material, preferably one of which is a thin skin of liquid crystal polymer, which surrounds a thermal insulation barrier which supports said envelope, the envelope is evacuated and has sealed edges; and a "getter" material within said envelope. The present invention is further directed to a "getter" material supporting structure which comprises an air lock chamber with an opening which when open permits the gases surrounding the barrier in the envelope after evacuation access to the "getter" material.
