Date Oct. 9, 1997The present invention relates to a composition and process for preparing such a composition which provides stabilized betaine ester compounds of active alcohols in an acidic environment. In particular, it relates to an aqueous acidic composition comprising: a) a betaine ester of an active alcohol which, at a concentration of from 0.01% to 10% by weight in said composition, is predominantly in the form of micelles and/or is capable of being incorporated into micelles, b) a surfactant, said composition comprising an acidic material in sufficient amount to render the pH of the composition of less than 7.
