Zusammenfassung:	An aqueous alkaline processing liquid for use in silver halide photography, wherein said liquid comprises one or more alkanolamines, the said alkanolamines consisting of one or more tertiary alkanolamines in a total amount in the range from 0.3 mol/l to 1.5 mol/l, and one or more secondary alkanolamines in an amount from 0 mol % to 30 mol % with respect to the amount of tertiary alkanolamine(s), and said liquid also contains sulphite ions in an amount in the range of 16 g/l to 30 g/l.
