Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:	A metering drum (30) dispenses a free-flowing material (8) onto an air permeable transport tape (12). The free-flowing material is retained thereon by applying a vacuum to the transport tape, and transferred to pockets (16) mounted on a continuous belt (17). As the transport tape moves beneath the pockets, the effect of the vacuum applied to the transport tape ceases, and a second vacuum is operated to draw the free-flowing material into the pockets. The free-flowing material is later released into spaces between filter plugs conveyed on an air-permeable garniture tape (31). In one embodiment, transfer of the free-flowing material from the pockets into spaces between the filter plugs is assisted by a vacuum applied to the garniture tape.
