Zusammenfassung:	The fuel pump permits a high delivery pressure with a low degree of pressure fluctuations and can be attached to the internal-combustion engine in a space-saving manner in axial prolongation of the camshaft and can be driven in a simple fashion. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the fuel pump serves as a tensioning device for a belt or chain drive by virtue of the drive wheel of the fuel pump acting as a belt or chain tensioning roller.
