Preferred compounds include the cis and trans isomers of 1,3-dipropyl-8-(3-hydroxycyclopentyl)xanthine and the cis and trans isomers of 1,3-dipropyl-8-(4-hydroxycyclohexyl)xanthine. The compounds are potent and selective bronchodilators and/or cardiotonic agents. |
