Zusammenfassung:	A process for strengthening the cellulose in materials which have been treated with an alkaline organometallic compound selected from a metal alkyl, metal alkoxide or alkyl metal alkoxide to deacidify the cellulose and which cellulosic material is wet with treatment solvent, by treating the undried cellulosic material with a polar monomer and then drying the cellulose material and polymerizing the monomer by subjecting the treated cellulose to vacuum and heat.
