Shielded electrical connector assembly

A one-piece shield (14) is stamped and formed of metal material for substantially surrounding and shielding a dielectric housing (12) of an electrical connector assembly (10). The housing is generally rectangular and includes a top (16), bottom (18), front (20), rear (22) and opposite sides (24). The shield includes a top wall (30) for substantially covering the top of the housing, opposite side walls (32) for substantially covering the opposite sides of the housing, a front wall (34) for substantially covering the front of the housing about a receptacle opening (26) in the housing, and a rear wall (36) for substantially covering the rear of the housing. Detent members (42) are provided on at least one side wall and the rear wall (40) to secure the rear wall in a closed position.
