Zusammenfassung:	Described is a wood composition and a method for its preparation by treating wood with a first aqueous solution comprising one or more lanthanide derivatives, optionally rinsing with water and finally treating the wood with a second aqueous solution comprising one or more bases or one or more acid salts thereby precipitating a water-insoluble lanthanide complex within the wood. In addition, the method may be practiced by reversing the order of the treatment steps.
