Zusammenfassung:	This invention deals with viscosity improvers which are obtained through the use of a mixed catalyst system comprising a tertiary organo halide and a Lewis acid catalyst. A liquid alpha-olefin polymer composition having a polymodal distribution with peak molecular weight maximum at 2,000 to 5,000 and at 50,000 to 75,000 is useful as a lubricating oil.
