Expandable and expanded alkenyl aromatic polymer particles

Expandable and expanded particles are prepared from an alkenyl aromatic polymer and a volatile fluid blowing agent comprising 1,1-difluoro-1-chloroethane; and one or more of normal pentane, isopentane and neopentane. The blowing agent may also comprise 1,1,1-trichloroethane.
