Zusammenfassung:	A heated bilayer appendage (10) is provided for mounting outboard of an existing non-heated aircraft window (12). The appendage (10) prevents moisture or frost accumulation on the outboard surface of the appendage (10) so that a clear viewing area is maintained through that portion of the windshield (12) over which the appendage (10) is mounted. The appendage (10) may be provided with an anti-static coating (34) to prevent static charge accumulation on the appendage (10).
