Treatment of viral diseases

Viral diseases are treated by a method in which an effective amount of 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)ethan- 1-ol (formula I) (I) is administered enterally, parenterally or topically to a patient suffering therefrom.
