Benzyl alcohol for improved powdered cleansers

An improved powdered abrasive cleanser comprising: (a) 0.1% to 6% of a surfactant; (b) 0.5% to 40% benzyl alcohol; (c) 20% to 95% of a water-insoluble abrasive material having particle diameters ranging from about 0.3 to about 0.001 millimeters; and (d) 1% to 50% detergency builder.
