Zusammenfassung:	A process for producing layered organometallic polymers having organo groups covalently bonded to pentavalent metal atoms. The pentavalent metal atoms are, in turn, covalently bonded through an oxygen linkage to tetravalent metal atoms. The layered organometallic compounds are produced by reacting a silyl diester of an organo-substituted pentavalent metal acid with at least one tetravalent metal ion.
