Zusammenfassung:Chrome tanned leather scrap is converted into thermal insulation by shredding the tanned leather scrap into leather fibers, without damaging the structural fiber integrity, and case hardening the shredded leather fibers. The shredded leather fibers are case hardened by reducing the moisture content thereof to less than 5% by weight, and preferably less than 2%.
