Pentanol derivatives of the general formula: C3H7 ANGLE CH-CH-O-R1 ¦ C3H7R wherein R represents a straight-chain lower alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and R1 represents a hydrogen atom or the group CONH2. They are useful as antidepressant and tranquillizing agents.
